Marciniak, Hyacinth "Jack" Lt. Col. US Army, Hyacinth "Jack" Marciniak, retired, age 87, died Tuesday , October 25, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Jack was born on April 24, 1929 to the late Albert and Helen (Antoniewicz) Marciniak in the Town of Rolling. On November 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to Betty Strasser at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church Rectory. Betty survives and resides in Wausau. Jack attended Sunnyside Grade School, St. Hyacinth Catholic School, St. Bonaventure, and was a 1946 graduate of Antigo High School. He went on to the Normal School and also UW Stevens Point, earning his degree in teaching. Jack taught in Bryant, at Calhoun Elementary in New Berlin, and at the Green Bay Correctional Center for 14 years. Jack joined the Army National Guard at the age of 18. At the time of The Berlin Crisis, he was called to active duty with the 32nd Red Arrow Division and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. He remained on active duty for 18 years and was stationed at various bases, including two tours in Vietnam. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel from his military service 1976. Following his retirement, Jack returned to the Antigo area and later resided in Wausau. Jack was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Aniwa, where he served on the parish council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was devoted to the community, serving on the Langlade County Board and Chairman of the Town of Rolling. He was also a member of the DAV and the American Legion and the Retired Educators of Langlade County having also served as president. Jack loved the outdoors, making maple syrup, planting trees, and deer hunting. He also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Canada, Hawaii, and Poland. Suriviors in addition to his wife include 2 daughters, Lori (Dan) Lavalle of Appleton, Victoria (Tom) Bellmore of Appleton; a son Michael (Jane) of Wausau; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) of Wausau, Paul of Wausau, Neil (Olivia) of Denver, CO, Jason Bellmore of Appleton, Garret Bellmore of Appleton; 6 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ean, Elexa, Michael, Nadia, Griffin Jack; 5 sisters, Josephine Rank of Antigo, Rose (Jim) Jansen of Kempster, Joan Pregler of Antigo, Mary (Ken) Rine of Bryant, Cindy (Rick) Hurlbert of Post Lake; 2 brothers, Albert (Eleanor) of Waukesha and Pat (Rose) of Antigo; a sister-in-law, Connie Marciniak of Wausau; 4 step-grandchildren, Brenda (Bill) Schumacher of Wausau, Dana (Greg) Scott of Oklahoma City, OK, Beau (Kristine) Bostwick of Lake Villa, IL, Geoff (Megan) Bostwick of Hatley; 7 step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Valerian, and Francis; brothers-in-law, Jerry Pregler, Richard Keidle, Tony Rank; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Marciniak and Norma Marciniak; and a nephew Gary Marciniak. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary & Hyacinth's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Paul Koszerek officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Interment will be in Aniwa Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Langlade County Retired Educators Association Scholarship Fund. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family. Anton RANK, of Neva, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 89 years old. He was born on September 30, 1924 in Antigo, a son of Charles and Frances (Braun) Rank. He married Elizabeth Dziamarski April 19, 1947 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. She preceded him in death on May 25, 1997. On December 4, 1999 he and Josephine Marciniak Keidle were united in marriage at St. Wencel Catholic Church. She survives. He was raised in Neva, attended Gillis grade school and worked on the family farm. He was employed at the Vulcan plant in Antigo before moving to Milwaukee in 1949. For 32 years he was employed at Miller Brewing Company. Mr. Rank returned to Neva where he worked in carpentry with George Gregurich and for the J. W. Mattek potato farms. His hobbies included raising chickens, turkeys and ducks, woodworking, fishing and flower gardening. He was well known for his work in creating totem poles, several of which stand in his yard. He was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva where he supplied flowers for the altar for many years. Survivors including his wife are a son Kenneth (Karen) Rank, Waukesha; three grandchildren Kristina (Todd) Szada, Kimberly (Michael) Lawler, Kelsey (finacee Cory) Rank; one great-grandson Ethan Szada; a sister Margaret Oestreich of Rhinelander. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, a son James Rank; two sisters Frances and Mary Rank; four brothers Frank, George, Joseph and John Rank. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church, Neva with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 - 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Francis "Frank" Thomas Marciniak, son of Albert and Helen (Antoniewicz) Marciniak passed into God's loving arms on Wednesday, March 31 at Aspirus Hospice, Wausau. Frank was born in Antigo, January 27, 1933. After growing up on the family farm, he left home to work in Milwaukee at the Salvay Coke Plant. On May 16, 1953 he married the love of his life, Connie Jean King at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, Antigo. In 1962 they returned to Antigo to continue the tradition of farming on his family's homestead. Along the way they raised six children. Frank lived his life to the fullest measure engaging in dairy farming, driving school bus and milk tanker and chauffeuring for the elderly. He was instrumental in organizing the Rural Fire Control and was proud to serve as a volunteer fireman since 1976. From 1978-1979 he served as President of the Rural Fire Control Fire Board. He also served his community on the Rolling Town Board of Supervisors and his country in the National Guard. In his free time he enjoyed making maple syrup, woodworking, fishing, camping with friends and visiting rummage sales with Connie at his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie and three daughters, Kathleen (Larry) Hetzel, Rubicon, Jeanne (Tim) Bolen, Bryant and Monica Dorrington, Aniwa; three sons, James (Joan) Marciniak, Antigo, Steve Marciniak, Summit Lake and Tom (Annette) Marciniak, Antigo; three brothers, Jack (Betty) Marciniak, Antigo, Albert (Eleanor) Marciniak, Milwaukee and Patrick (Rosemary) Marciniak, Antigo; five sisters, Josephine (Tony) Rank, Deerbrook, Rosie (Jim) Jansen, Deerbrook, Mary (Ken) Rine, Bryant, Joan Pregler, Antigo and Cindy (Rick) Hurlbert, Post Lake; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his wife's sisters, brother and families. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard (Norma) Marciniak and Valarian (Betty) Marciniak and two brothers in law, Gerald Pregler and Richard Keidle. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Entombment will take place at Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home from 3:00 - 7:-00 p.m. with a parish wake service at 3:30 p.m. and Rural Fire Control honor guard from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Valerian MARCINIAK Born February 24, 1936. Death Shawano, February 16, 2008 (71). Shawano Leader Monday, February 18, 2008 Valarian (Val) "Larry" Marciniak Valarian (Val) "Larry" Marciniak, age 71 of 1005 East Zingler Ave., Shawano, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2008 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, where he had been a patient for the past two days. Valarian was born Feb. 24, 1936 in Antigo, Wis., a son of the late Albert and Helen (Antoniewicz) Marciniak. He attended th St. Hyacinth Catholic Grade School in Antigo and later graduated from Antigo High School. Following school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years. Upon returning from the service he was employed at the Milwaukee Solvoy Coke Company. He then entered the Langlade County Normal school where he earned his teaching certificate. Val taught school in Mole Lake, Platteville, Tomahawk and taught eight grade math at the Franklin Middle School in Shawano. Val had been united in marriage to the former Betty Gehr at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. They were married for 25 years when Betty preceded him in death in 1979. He was later united in marriage to the former Bonnie (Spoehr) Koeller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano on June 28, 1986. He retired from the Shawano schools in 1994. He had also been employed as an EMT for the Shawano Ambulance Service for over 15 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano, the Knights of Columbus and the Shawano American Legion. He loved to garden, fish and hunt. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Shawano; two sons, Mark Marciniak of Shawano and Tim Marciniak of Buffalo, New York; three step-children, Dean (Linda) Koeller of Shawano; Tammy (Frank) Gille of Muskego and Vicky (Dave) Jung of Oak Creek; eight grandchildren, Madison Marciniak, Amanda Kline, Holly Genz, Christi Peterson, Shane and Scott Koeller, Tanya Darge and Nick Jung; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha Kline, Noah and Madalyn Genz. He is further survived by four brothers, Hyacinth (Betty) Marciniak of Antigo, Frank (Connie) Marciniak, Antigo, Albert (Eleanor) Marciniak of Milwaukee, Patrick (Rose) Marciniak of Antigo; five sisters, Josephine (Tony) Rank of Deerbrook, Rose (James) Jansen, Deerbrook, Joan Pregler of Antigo, Mary (Ken) Rine of Bryant, Wis., Cynthia (Rick) Hurlbert of Antigo; and one sister in-law, Norma Marciniak of Milwaukee. Val was preceded in death by one son, David, in infancy; one Brother, Richard Marciniak, a nephew Gary Marciniak and one brother in-law Jerry Pregler. A funeral mass will be celebrated on on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. Father Len Evers will be the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. The Shawano American Legion will conduct military rites at the church.
