He was born June 22, 1926 in Antigo, the son of the late Otto and Mathilda (Frisch) Steber.
On September 29, 1962, Clayton was united in marriage to Julia (Granger) Demaskiein Waukegan, IL. She survives.
Clayton served in the Army during WWII.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Dan Steber, Manawa, Steve Steber, Bowler, Randal Steber, Los Angeles and Greg Steber, Green Bay;
two daughters, Penny Steber and Margie Steber, both at home; four grandchildren;
three brothers, Bruno Steber, Greg Steber, and Frank Steber, all of Antigo;
and one sister, Katie Kubiaczyk, Kenosha. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services were held September 17, 1987at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler.
The Rev. Thomas Myhre officiated. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Town of Almon.
