Andrew A. PAWLAK,
of Antigo, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Care Partners in Antigo.
He was 90 years old. He was born on November 2, 1925 in Antigo, a son of David and Agnes (Zelinski) Pawlak.
He married Jean Rydzewski on October 8, 1949 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. She survives.
He was raised on a farm in the town of Rolling and attended Sunnyside grade school and Antigo High School.
He served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant, from May 20, 1944 to May 14, 1946 serving in the Pacific Theatre.
He had the privilege of going to Washington D.C. on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in 2012.
Following military service he moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a machinist and supervisor beginning with Allis Chalmers then Banner Welder.
In 1969 he started Pawlak Tool and Manufacturing Corporation, a business he ran until retirement in 1992.
Andy moved to Antigo in 1992 where he was a member of St. John Catholic Church and served as an usher
for many years, and the Msgr. Conrad Sailie Knights of Columbus Council 1002. For 10 years he delivered Meals on Wheels.
He enjoyed bowling and polka dancing especially to the Polish Hop.
Survivors including his wife are a son, Ron (Diane) Pawlak, Cedarburg; a daughter, Diane (Scott) Olson, Oak Creek;
two sisters, Joan Pavlichek, River Falls, Beth (Allen) Piering, Menomonee Falls;
four Grandchildren, Amy (Troy) Daniels, Brad Pawlak, Kristan Olson,
Lisa (Brad) Manz; four great-grandchildren, Cooper and Ella Daniels, Sawyer and Wesley Manz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Pawlak, a grandchild, Matthew Olson,
two brothers Harold and Robert (Bonnie) Pawlak.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.
Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites following Mass at the church. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in Hoffmann Hall at the church.
A parish wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
